Chinese New Year Blog Hop
February 7, 2013
Welcome to the Chinese New Year Blog Hop! You should have arrived from Miriam’s blog. If not, please start at Emily’s blog for all the details.
Chinese New Year is a huge public holiday in Hong Kong, which is where I come from. I am super excited to join the blog hop with seven other designers!
Beware of a photo-heavy post as I have a lot of projects to share with you today!
I colored Melania Deasy’s lantern digi stamp with copics and decorated the card base with some flat gold sequins and rhinestones. I then stamped the sentiment from Paper Smooches’ Christmas Sampler stamp set.
Red Pockets are also huge during Chinese New Year. I’ve used some patterned paper from Crate Paper for the red envelope and made a cute little red pocket with Melania’s Snake digi stamp. I also made a card with Mama Elephant’s digital stamp, cut out the negatives and adhered it to the card base.
Lantern festival marks the end of Chinese New Year. I used a New Year digital stamp designed by Ryann Salamon from Fresh Squeezed Stamps in this card. I carefully cut out the branch and the lanterns, and substituted some rhinestones in place of the dots. I added some vellum circles behind the lanterns to give it a soft glow.
I colored in this Sassy Snake digital stamp from Lisa Hetrick Design and fussy cut it out, adhered with foam dimensionals on a white base. I kept the overall card simple to showcase the details on this stamp.
Here is my last card for the blog hop. Chinese New Year Rin was super fun to color in! Peach blossoms are the most popular flower during Chinese New Year. To mimic the blossoms, I masked and stamped the flowers to give Rin a flower frame.
This concludes my projects for the Chinese New Year blog hop. I hope you enjoyed all the projects I have for you! Here’s who you’ll be hopping with this week for a chance to win one of five fabulous prizes listed below:
