Today, I have a card linking up to several challenges. Firstly, the BIG blog hop from Papertrey Ink for August Blog Hop Challenge! We were given this inspiration photo from Nichole Heady and I wanted to try some masking for a DIY herringbone pattern.

I CASEd Nicki’s winning card from CASE Study for the current CASE Study #105 challenge. For my sentiment, I didn’t want to cover up the background, and I was too chicken to stamp directly on it, so I cut a small banner with a simple “happy birthday” sentiment, perfect for CAS-ual Friday #67! To give it a little more movement, I decided to offset the sentiment to the side rather than in the middle for Moxie Fab’s Asymmetry Challenge.

I have included a small photo tutorial on how I did the masking for the herringbone pattern. I used some washi tape, cut to the desired width and masked away.

CASE #104 – Birthday Cupcake

My latest obsession: paper piecing! I got this cute Savor Sweet Cupcakes stamp from SSS awhile ago and thought I could try some paper piecing. I thought I’d CASE Debby’s card for CASE Study #104. It gets some time to get used to all the white space 🙂 A nice big cupcake in the middle of a white canvas as my focal point. Perfect for Moxie Fab’s Card Design Handbook Week challenge!
It’s hard to believe I’m turning 24. I still feel like I’m “18”.
The ice-cream scoop from Debby’s card was popped up a bit more than the cone, so I did the same thing. I popped the muffin top a bit higher than the base, and slipped a piece of ribbon in between for some texture and decor. Although Debby stamped the image, I decided to change things around and paper piece it instead. Close up of the paper pieced cupcake and cherry.

CFC #65 – Refuge & Strength

Joining in for CASE Study 2nd Anniversary Blog Hop and CAS-ual Fridays with a square card. For me, any card that’s not rectangular is hard for me, so I challenged myself to join in on CFC and make a square card. And as much as I love white spaces, I always feel like something is missing!
Same goes with this card. I kept telling myself to stop adding things to the card. Buttons? More twine? Some bling? I stopped myself after adding the twine 🙂

Embellish Color Challenge – Shutterbug

I think I’m in love with this stamp set. The moment I got my package, I stamped the camera everywhere. Looking back at my past cards, I think my signature style (if I have any) changed a bit, but still kept things clean & simple. I think this card definitely speaks about my style: simple, big focal point in the middle that is almost always popped up with dimensional adhesives with subtle details around the focal point (especially that sofa card.)
I’ve been wanting to submit to Embellish Magazine challenge for awhile, but since I have very limited supplies, I couldn’t get all the requirements in. But not this time though 🙂 It’s the Buttons Color Trend Challenge this time and I’ve got the right supplies and the right (I think?) colors!
The true colors behind the vellum. I like how the vellum makes it less busy on the card front. I think I used the wrong shade of pink, but it’s still pink.
